Once Around the Sun is a selection of 16 pieces of music from the over 50 published weekly during 2018, the first year of the ongoing web-based project Porch Swing Orchestra (PSO). Each web post is a combination of a field recording of improvised music and an image made on-site where the music was performed. While most of the pieces were made on the porch, pieces in this first year were made in faraway places such as Spiral Jetty in Utah, Bailey Island Maine, and under a massive bridge near Del Rio, Texas.

The images from the project are collected in a booklet packaged with the record can be ordered separately or downloaded as a free pdf. The images in the book appear in the order that corresponds to the tracks on the record. The cover image is a mash-up of all the images that comprise the second side of the album. Unless otherwise noted in the title, the tracks were recorded on my front porch in Austin, Texas.

Barry Stone plays acoustic guitar in every piece and made all the images.

About the recording:
The recordings were made live with an H2 Zoom recorder.
The tracks were cut into vinyl by a lathe in San Antonio, Texas by Ian at Groovy Dude Records. By this process, each record is individually cut and may change over time as it is played.
