PSO took a field trip to record under a bridge on the shore of Lake Amistad on the Texas/Mexico border. I made this picture with my great-grandfather's Auto Graflex Jr. camera, which he purchased in 1914.

I was there to shoot a project for Topic entitled Postcards from Del Rio, which attempts to depict the vibrant nature of this border community. My photo essay is a companion piece to Rania Attieh and Daniel Garcia's documentary on the Mayor of Del Rio, Bruno “Ralphy” Lozano, who is not only the city's youngest-ever mayor but also its first openly gay elected official.
